Government faces to enter the country Zika Virus

The Deputy Minister of Public Health reported that remains active to respond to the possibility that the Zika virus, transmitted by the mosquito Aedes aegypti, arrives in the country.

To that end, there have been multiple meetings led by Deputy Minister of Public Health, Nelson Rodriguez Monegro, with Jose Manuel Puello, director of Management of Population Health; Raquel Pimentel, director of Epidemiology; and Ronald Skewes-Ramm, national coordinator of Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika virus.


Puello said that so far no virus has been found in the territory, but epidemiological surveillance is kept alert attending the Pan American Health Organization.


He said the Ministry of Health, through the Vice Ministry of Public Health, remains vigilant to the threat of emergence of neurological and autoimmune both adults and children complications.


Puello said Zika-Virus is a disease that occurs much milder dengue fever.


Also with headache, pain in the joints, conjunctivitis without secretion producing bacterial conjunctivitis.


Another sign of submission of Zika virus are skin rash with red spots that cause itching.
